My Kind of Place is a charming family-run Bar & Restaurant, nestled in the lush nature of Nilaveli district. Nilaveli is located in the north of Trincomalee with Pigeon Island just in front of it. Less touristic and crowded, Nilaveli offers a long unspoiled exotic beach, we recommend to visit. Although only 300 meters from the main road, most customers refer to My Kind of Place as a “hidden gem in the jungle”. Its cozy and friendly atmosphere will make you feel home. You will enjoy tasteful fusion dishes, that reflect a harmonious combination of the Sri Lankan traditional cuisine and the magic touch of Japanese fragrances. Chef Priyantha, who spent more than ten years in Tokyo and Yokohama, exalts the flavors of fresh local ingredients in a sublime and memorable culinary experience. The superb Royal Fish menu deserves a special mention. Depending on the seasonality, it is based on king prawns, lagoon crabs, cuttlefish, catch of the day, all served with a secret home-made sauce. You can try to ask the Chef to share his secrets, but he’s not likely to disclose the sauce recipe, that his mother taught him. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and reservation is recommended. You can also visit for a quick lunch, an elegant dinner or simply to chill out with a cold drink.

For an exclusive and private experience we recommend the Romantic Dinner boat trip in the secluded Nilaveli lagoon. For those who go fishing, the chef can prepare and serve the catch in our restaurant.
